Because this
seems to be my most popular modification, I have made a seperate page with
details on how to make one and
many pictures of the final product. Click here

Grille Page.
How-to modify your intake (ie, ram-air/cold-air)
There's a couple ways you can approach the intake method. Firstly, and
most commonly people just buy a
filter on a stick (ie, AEM, etc...). The way
these make power is by two ways.
1) They are in a position such that they
recive cold/fresh ambient air.
and 2) They provide better filtration (ie,
less filter bottleneck). My system
does both of these also. What I did is
buy a K&N performance filter
for my stock airbox, and then made custom
piping that feeds the intake cold
air. I also removed the intake resonator
to make room for the piping, and
as a benifit, my car makes a nice growl at
WOT, kinda sounds like an exhaust.
I think my system works as good as the
$200 filter on a sticks, but doesn't
look as nice. If your into looks, or
you don't like spending a lot of
time fixing up you car, go for a cold air
intake (like AEM) I don't reccommend
non-cold air intakes because they just
suck in hot enine air. Or, if you
have time to make your own intake you can
save around $150.00 and still have
a good performing, nice sounding intake.
Details on my setup:
- Removed Intake resonator and all
spagetti piping after the air-box.
- Used 2.5" piping that runs under
my bumper (had to cut a small hole to run pipe through).
- Piping is not sealed,
it just sits around 2" away from air-box opening, feeding it cool air.
(I did this to get a nice growl from the air-box at WOT)
- Using high flow K&N air filter
(I recommend this).
How-to polish your throttle body
* Note: I'm not an expert in this field, so if you don't feel confident doing this, DON'T. I'm not sure if this is exactly the way to do it, but this is how I did it.
Supplies needed:
- 'Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish'
- A couple clean rags
- Tools to remove the intake piping
Steps: 1) Remove
intake piping (ie, the long black tube that runs from your air-box to the
TB (throttle body).
2) First, wipe off all dirt/grease/etc. in the TB that is before the Throttle
plate. Then wipe off the throttle plate itself. (You rag should get black
with soot). To clean the TB behind the throttle plate, you can either get
a friend to sit in the driver's seat and hold down the gas peddle (thus
opening the throttle plate allowing you to clean behind it). Or, if you
don't have access to a friend, pull on the throttle line (in the engine
while you clean it with the other hand. It will be hard to clean very deep
inside the throttle body, but I'm sure you can become inventive in your
procedures.
3) After you wiped everything off, repeat the procedure with the mag polish,
keep doing this until your cloth no longer becomes black. Also, be sure
to wipe off all the polish before bolting everything back up.
Note: I've heard that doing this
not only increases HP, but reduces emissions as well. Something you might
want to do before getting smog tested, if you fear not passing.
How-to Advance you timing
All you needed to know about advancing
you timing can be found here:

* I recommend not advancing your timing more than 2 degrees past stock settings.
